I am a detail oriented self starter with excellent time management skills. I have spent over two decades helping clients tell their stories in a variety of mediums.

Professional Experience:

2000 – present

Independent Designer, Illustrator, and Creative Director for various freelance and contract assignments. Clients include: Sleeping Bear Press, Magination Press, Pearson Learning, Sterling Children's Books, Harcourt, McGraw-Hill, Thomas Nelson, Nissan USA, KJB Security Products, Lifeway Christian Resources, Word Entertainment

Duties include:

  • Illustrate books, early readers and educational material for both trade and educational market, including series visual design

  • Create designs, illustrations, and infographics for print and web applications

  • Collaborate with contracted talent such as illustrators, copywriters, public relations and video producers

  • Manage production schedules and budgets for short term projects and ongoing productions

  • Planning, writing and editing copy for blogs and tutorials

  • Scheduling and facilitating remote meetings with clients and team members

  • Starred reviews in Kirkus and School Library Journal for book design and illustration

  • Coordinated products featured on FOX Business and major studio production The Wolf of Wall Street

  • Created campaigns to launch over 50 new products in the consumer retail sector

  • Created bi-weekly newsletter for a wholesale distributor client that doubled their dealer participation

  • Managed multiple projects for clients while consistently staying under budget and meeting deadlines

2015 – 2024

Illustrator Coordinator for the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators Midsouth Region.

Duties include:

  • Stay abreast of the most current trends in children's publishing in order to best advise new and existing illustrator members

  • Plan and manage online and in-person workshops on writing and publishing

  • Coordinate a three day annual regional conference with over 200 attendees and 20 faculty members from around the world

Accomplishments and accolades:

  • Created online critique and feedback forum for writers and illustrators

  • Doubled member forum participation in the first year after implementation

2012 – present

Adjunct Instructor at Lipscomb University College of Cinematic Arts and Nossi College of Art

  • Teach incoming freshman Foundations of Visual Storytelling

  • Teach advanced publishing classes for students in their final 3 semesters

  • Advise college on industry standards and curriculum for graduating seniors in publishing
